Designed to be different

Each application we design is unique and has specific requirements. To design a product requires a thorough understanding of how the end user utilises the product, considering the environment it is in and how the different components will interact with each other. Our approach to system design is to take into consideration not only how they act independently, but how they interact with each other.  

This was how the direct drive washing machine was created. At Fisher & Paykel Technologies we challenged the way the system was designed. To have a system designed, you must look broader and challenge methods which haven’t changed for a long time. The potential of that can be huge, if you can simplify the product or find better ways to do things that improve the user experience.
